**DISCLAIMER: I received this product for free from Birchbox, and the following is a review of the product.**
If you’ve read anything from my blog, you know that I look forward every month to receiving my Birchbox
in the mail. I’ve enjoyed the service so much that I’ve blogged about each of my boxes when they’ve come in. I’m anxiously awaiting my sixth Birchbox, and the preview looks great.
I started subscribing to Birchbox because I have the opportunity to try great grooming products at a low price. They also give points for reviews and referrals on their site, so that is an added incentive. Every now and then, however, they give away a full-size product so that people can review it. I was fortunate enough to have an opportunity to review a new product they will be selling on their site soon.
I enjoy sampling colognes. I especially enjoy sampling colognes from Birchbox because you are often exposed to fragrances you wouldn’t find at your major retailers. Granted, they are more expensive, but the samples last a good while, and for me, they’ve lasted long enough to get to the next box. Gives you a chance to “shake it up”, so to speak. So when the opportunity came to review a cologne, I was on board. However, it’s a solid cologne.
Don’t worry, I’ve never used solid cologne, either. Apparently, it’s a newer product that men are starting to notice and like. The product isn’t very large (.5 oz), but remember, that’s still a lot of cologne. Alfred Lane has three fragrances, and I was given the “Bravado” scent. I really like the product a lot, because even though I don’t travel much, one of the issues for me has always been when I travel, I find a way to spill cologne or something. This is much easier to transport and unless left in a hot car for a week, won’t leak anywhere.
Of course, the major question is does it smell good? Yeah, it smells great, actually. It’s not a complex scent or anything, but to me, it smells of a really good bar of soap. I see this as a fantastic product for a guy who doesn’t like a lot of hassle and isn’t into smelling like violets. Open the cologne, take two fingers and run them down the stick once, then rub on each wrist. My only complaint is that I don’t feel the scent lasted a long time, but I still find it to be useful and if that’s your only problem, put it in the briefcase (or laptop bag if you don’t want to sound like Matlock)…no one will know it’s there.
I hope that you found this review helpful, and I also hope that if you do not currently subscribe to Birchbox that this will be motivation to do that. I’m extremely happy with the service and gifted one to my wife for Christmas (because, you know, she was jealous of mine and all). Also, big thanks to Birchbox for allowing me to review the product. I’m definitely a satisfied customer. If you’re new to my blog, I hope you’ll poke around a little and read some other posts. Peace and love, y’all!
